In this early rendering of the saw blade sign, a mule deer was used as a placeholder until the perfect silhouette of a white tail was found and traced.
The deer was found after combing through hundreds of photos in Google Images. It was traced manually in Illustrator and honored the smallest details. The establishment date was moved to the bottom to maximize the available space.
The painted saw blade was difficult to manipulate when it came time to apply decals to the other side.
The deer was cut in two to maximize efficient use of the golden vinyl. After a costly miscut, I had barely enough to work with.
Cream text was used to compliment the brown background, but was not carried forward as the branding developed.
After the completion of the main saw blade sign, the focus and offerings of Marksman's Outpost would shift. Several items would be added to the Outpost's signage at the owner's request, though some of them were not made before the Outpost would permanently close.
